Edwin Bernard Cash was born on November 30, 1930, to the late James D. and Merita M. Jackson in Dallas, Texas. Except for time spent in school and in the Military, he has resided in Dallas all of his life. He has been a member of Good Street Baptist Church since 1936 and has served this church faithfully ad a deacon since 1957.

Cash graduated from Lincoln High School in Dallas and received a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Bishop College in Marshall, Texas, in 1952. He did graduate work at Southern Methodist University in Dallas and received a Master of Education Degree from North Texas State University in Denton in 1963.

Cash married Maxine Leola Turner in 1957. They have one daughter, Sherrie Lynn Cash, who is an attorney in Dallas, Texas.

Cash served his country in the United States Air Force from 1952 to 1956. He was stationed at three Texas bases (San Antonio, San Angelo and Bryan) and at bases in Illinois and Arizona. His military travels took him to England, Germany, France, Spain, Italy, Austria and Sweden. While in the Air Force, he received some pilot training, but most of his training was in Meteorology. During his tour of duty, he served as a weather observer in the various states and countries, where he was stationed.

From 1956 to 1994, Cash worked for the Dallas Independent School District. For six years he taught Mathematics, Science and Physical Education. He then became a visiting teacher, traveling between various schools and homes and doing more social work than traditional teaching. He retired on May 23, 1994.

Edwin Bernard Cash served as the nineteenth Grand Master of The Most Worshipful Prince Hall Grand Lodge of Texas and its Jurisdiction from 1990 to 1994. At the end of his term, he remained an active member of The Most Worshipful Prince Hall Grand Lodge of Texas and its Jurisdiction. He also lent his guidance and expertise to his community. His professional affiliations included Board of Directors of Senior Source from 2001 – 2007, Class of 1948 Lincoln High School Alumni, Classroom Teachers Association of Dallas, Visiting Teacher Association, NAACP, YMCA, Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Pi Delta Kappa Fraternity, Inc. State Teachers Association, Texas Oklahoma District Member of Kiwanis, International. In 2002, Edwin Bernard Cash became the only living Past Grand Master, with a quarter century of service to the Prince Hall Grand Lodge of Texas.

Edwin Bernard Cash is survived by his devoted wife of fifty-seven years, Maxine; one daughter, Sherrie Lynn; many nieces, nephews, cousins; and a host of other relatives and friends.
