Howard Aldridge, Sr. is a native of Bastrop. He is a graduate of the original L.C Anderson High School in Austin. He discovered
his passion for athletics at Rosewood Park where he learned the importance of hard work, sportsmanship, competition, practice, fair play, and study. Aldridge was a member of the 1959 district Championship team and the 1961 bi-district champions. His coaches were R.B. Timmons, L.L. Jackson, J.A. McDonald, and L.R. Britton.

He played baseball at Texas Southern University and graduated in 1966 with a degree in pharmacy; worked for 17 years with Skilleren’s Drugs and in 1981 opened Aldridge’s Family Pharmacy. His son, Howard, opened a second Aldridge Pharmacy and the Aldridge Family Pharmacies have serviced the South Dallas and Oak Cliff communities for 31 years. He helped organize the Pro-Duffer Golf Club in Dallas, precursor to the Dallas First Tee Program.

He and his wife, Joyce, have been married for 47 years and also have a daughter, Tamela, (an actress), and five grandchildren. He is a member of St. Luke United Methodist Church.
