February is heart health month. Hypertension is one of the key risk factors for heart disease. Therefore, it is important to get regular blood pressure screenings.

What is high blood pressure?

High blood pressure (also referred to as hypertension) is when your blood pressure, the force of blood flowing through your blood vessels, is consistently too high. Approximately 1 in 3 adults in the United States have high blood pressure. Only half (54%) of this population have their high blood pressure under control. The best way to know if you have high blood pressure it is to have your blood pressure checked.
