(CEDAR HILL, TEXAS) Cedar Hill-based churches, civic organizations and community members were especially charitable with this year’s Christmas Cedar Hill Gift Card Drive.

At present time, there were 570 $10 gift cards — to Amazon, Target and Walmart — collected, plus more than $250 in cash, according to Cedar Hill ISD Director of Family & Community Engagement Alicia Davis.

That means that each of the 215 nominated scholars on the list, in need of donations, will receive two gift cards each in addition to their siblings who were not nominated this year. The remaining gift cards will be distributed throughout the year to scholars and families with an identified need, and some will go to CHISD’s Student Services Office.

Among the major donors were the Rotary Club of Cedar Hill, the Cedar Hill Fire Department, High Pointe Baptist Church, Hill City, First United Methodist Church, Cedar Heights Baptist Church,  the Cedar Hill Lions Club, Innovationsmith LLC, API Precision Machining, and NaKayshions Wedding and Event Center through their Joy of Giving event.

This is the second year of the Christmas Cedar Hill Gift Card Drive. The event was amended from previous years when it was a Toy Drive Event that featured a free breakfast, Santa Claus and other Christmas-related events.
