My Day by Dr. J. Ester Davis

A “thank you note” to my community and beyond.

Making this occasion most remarkable for me, two (2) of “my mentors” were in attendance, and today they are still a force, to-wit: Mrs. Katherine Mitchell, now 101 Years Old, and the “unflappable” Barbara Records of the renown Records BBQ Family Dynasty. I have to honorable mention three others who have changed addresses but changed and promoted my business interest… Georgia McGowan, McGowan Funeral Home, Mable Chandler, a rich Educator and my red-carpet ELLE,  Julia Jordan, a devoted soul to her church, The Links community and her husband’s medical practice.

There is no greatest honor than that from your neighbors, pastors and pilots, county Sheriff and county party chairman, community royalty, distinctive presidents/wives from other cultures, state influencers, city sister’s business owners, family and leaders….to attend. Then there were newer glamourous dedicated business owners, retired- but-busy-talent and a mountain of messages in all forms and they are still coming.

You see on Tuesday, October 10, 2023, there was a ‘new dawn’  luncheon. Done in fashionable style, “without rules” by Honorable Carolyn King Arnold, Deputy Mayor Pro Tem, Dallas City Council, held at one of the most picturesque master golf courses in the State of Texas, i.e., Cedar Crest Golf Course. And most exciting this spectrum of women leaders was held in her district for a time like this.

Appropriately styed “A Conversation with Dr. J. Ester Davis”, this first gathering orchestrated by the gentle council lady from Dallas and her capable staff, had a lot of deep significance for me.  It held sparrows of memories. This platform was questions asked to me, which I consider a direct approach to the future…women4women.   Before I went to Washington, there was an invitation to speak at a DAR Meeting in VanAlstyne County, the United Nations experience, “Commission On the Status of Women”, a couple of times.  My favorite a few years ago, a WFWP meeting in Costa Rica, where I joined six(6) distinguished ladies from Costa Rica, New York, Texas (me), Panama, Mexico, and the First Lady from Belize. It was awe-inspiring, because every time they called your name, your country followed. i.e. Ester Davis, United States.

On Tuesday, October 10, up front was why was I an invitee to the 2023 First Lady Luncheon in Washington, DC.  Another question was my letter-writing audacity ‘over-the-years’, which I must add, always ended in effective results. “You should have known my Mother” was an answer to two questions. I wrote about her once entitled “A Lady and an Officer”. .Still working on that book!

Thank you again, Carolyn King Arnold.  Please continue this awakening insider look at more ‘stand-up-don’t-stand-down‘ women as a reminder that we all have the option to use our powers for elevating good.
