Ms. Ethel Mae Pimpton

Born: August 23, 1920, in Bosqueville, Texas

PARENTS: Richard Winn, Sr. and Girtha Casel Winn, both deceased.

NOTE: They moved to Bosqueville, Texas, from a small town by the name of Yard, located in East, Texas.

SIBLINGS: Ethel’s parents had six children: 4 boys; R. T., J. T., John Richard, Jr., and two girls; Jessie Mae and Ethel Mae.

NOTE: Ethel was the youngest of 6 children and is the only living and surviving sibling.

CHILDREN: None

MARRIED: D. C. Pimpton, on September 14, 1941, they were married for 67 years before his demise in 2009.

HOBBIES: Traveling, playing dominoes, and many other games, including going to the casinos.

CHURCH AFFILIATION: Ethel joined Greater Zion Missionary Baptist in 1936 at the age of 16 under the ministry of Rev. D. Carrington.

CHURCH AUXILIARIES: Member of the Senior Usher Board.

Youth Sunday School Teacher and Supporter of McClain’s Platoon Drill Team.

MOTTO: “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.” Believing in this motto will carry you a long way.

PASSION: Hats, Clothes, and High Heel Shoes.

Ethel continues to live alone and drives to church, grocery stores, and occasionally to her doctor’s appointments.

On October 2018, Ethel was recognized by the Captain of the Carnival Freedom with a certificate and picture, as she was the oldest cruiser on that vessel at age 98.
