|The Catholic Diocese of Dallas is sponsoring “Awakening the Spirit: Catching the Fire!” a three-day evangelization, praise and workshop weekend, May 16-18, 2014. The guest speaker and homilist is Monsignor Raymond East, nationally known preacher, teacher, evangelist, theologian, liturgist, and pastor of St. Teresa of Avila Parish in Washington, DC. Designed to set souls on fire for Christ and empower participants to become active evangelists,
reaching the lost and welcoming them back to the flock, activities will include a welcoming Mass on Friday, May 16 at 7 p.m., at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, 3786 Myrtle St., Dallas 75215; a day of praise and workshop opportunities for teens, young adults, and the “more mature” adults on Saturday, May 17, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., at the Holy Cross Catholic Church Thea Bowman Hall, 4910 Bonnie View Rd., Dallas 75241; and, a closing Mass on Sunday, May 18 at 9 a.m., at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 5004 Bonnie View Rd. In addition, there will be no shortage of fun and food. Admission is free to all!
As part of the diocese’s expansion of its evangelization efforts, this is the third annual event sponsored by the Black Catholic Come Home committee seeking to prepare Catholics, particularly African-Americans, to identify and welcome non-practicing Catholics to come home to the Catholic Church family.
