The 2nd Annual Oak Cliff Jazz Fest/Arts & Crafts Fair Sept. 20
|The 2nd Annual Oak Cliff Jazz Fest/Arts & Crafts Fair Sept. 20, 11am to 10pm is presented by The Labyrinth Walk Coffee House (LWCH) (a nonprofit) and hosted by the Unitarian Universalist Church of Oak Cliff, 3839 W. Kiest Blvd, Dallas.
The Fest boasts 10 musical acts including up and coming Naughty Professor out of New Orleans and trumpet playing kids from Trumpets4Kids – a nonprofit organization helping dedicated, musically inclined children to have a trumpet they might otherwise not be able to afford. The Fest this year is dedicated to this Organization.
Other performers are Freddie Jones (founder of Trumpets for Kids) who played the National Anthem at the start of the Dallas Cowboys home games last year and will do so again this year; Larry Lampkin, an American blues guitarist and singer-songwriter; Tutu Jones where blues and soul meet; the Eastfield Faculty Jazz Combo led by Dr. Oscar Passley; Fingerprints, of the best kept music secrets in the South.
Appearing on the ladies’ side are Lady Diamond, currently appearing at Dallas’ House of Blues on Tuesdays and Sunday morning Gospel Brunches; Ms. Marcy and Her Sugar Daddy’s with her renditions of familiar standards from the Great American Songbook; and Carolyn Lee Jones, makes
standards sound new and the new sound standard.
The Juried Arts & Crafts Fair, open from 11am to at least 6pm will feature wooden toys, garden stepping stones, books, embroidered recycled tote bags, hand-knitted scarfs, jewelry with precious and semiprecious stones, Afrocentric jewelry, bat houses, honey and the bees that make it, handbags, wall art, and more.
