Tax-free weekend around the corner

RIO GRANDE VALLEY, Texas – This year’s sales tax holiday will begin Friday, August 9, and will run until midnight on Sunday August 11.

This sales tax exemption only applies to qualifying items. Most clothing, footwear, student backpacks, and specific school supplies qualify for the exemption if they are sold for less than $100.

Only items that are purchased between August 9 and August 11 qualify, no tax refunds will be provided for items purchased before or after the qualifying dates.
