Remembering Joe Elmer Johnson

Joe Elmer Johnson was the son of the late Haymon Johnson and Mollie Smith Johnson born May 13 1933, in Centerville, Texas. Joe attended public school in Centerville and his family later moved to Mexia, Texas. He joined Antioch Baptist Church under the pastorage of SM Lock. His family then relocated to Dallas, Texas where they joined Rising Star Baptist Church under the presiding Pastor C. Bookens. In 1951, he graduated from Lincoln High School, and proceeded to pursue a degree in Modern Photography. During this time, he became a tailor at Bell Training Corporation. Joe later worked for Post Tribute and retired from Flint Ink Corporation after 23 years of service.
On November 20, 1969 Joe met and married his wife Jessie Nell Harmon Johnson. To this union no children was born.
Joe Joined True Lee Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Robert L. Parish Sr. where he served as a member of the male chorus and later became the male chorus president. He also served as an ordained Deacon as the Secretary of the Deacon Board.
Joe later became a part of the 33 degree and of Masonry. Master Mason A.F and A.M. Working under the U.M.W. Scottish Rite Grand Lodge Jurisdiction of Texas. He became the District Deputy Grand Master, Grand Senior warden, and was the past master lodge #182.
Family members who preceded him in death is his father Haymon Johnson, mother Mollie Tucker and sister Gertrude Coleman.
His beautiful life will forever be cherished in the lives of his wife: Jessie Nell Johnson, Dallas, Tx: Niece.
