DALLAS — The public will be able to sign the condolence book, provided by His Majesty’s Consul General in Houston Richard Hyde, between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. Friday, September 16, in the City Hall lobby.

Mayor Eric Johnson will sign the book at 10 a.m. Media is invited to attend.

“I am honored that Dallas was one of the city’s selected to express its condolences to the United Kingdom on the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II,” Mayor Johnson said. “The Queen was a consequential and remarkable world leader — and a friend to our city. I invite Dallas residents to come to Dallas City Hall to participate in this special occasion.”

The Queen died last week at the age of 96, ending a 70-year reign over the United Kingdom. In 1991, Queen Elizabeth II made an official visit to Dallas, becoming the first Monarch to set foot in the city

During the trip, the Queen visited the Hall of State at Fair Park with then-Mayor Annette Strauss. The visit marked the 150th anniversary of the city’s founding.
