Dallas, Texas – Dwaine Caraway, former Dallas City Councilman will be sentenced on Friday for accepting
$450,000 in bribes from the men responsible for the downfall of the Dallas County Schools. Dwaine pleaded guilty in August of wire fraud and tax evasion; 66‐year‐old Dwaine said “only God knows” how much time he will receive. He is expressing remorse for his action stating; “I haven’t been asleep since August, I am ashamed. I am strong and participating with the system, of course, but these are the darkest days of my life. Disappointing all of the people who were and are still praying and pulling for me.
But man, I ain’t never seen it so tough.” Dwaine will know how much time he will serve after 1:30 on Friday.
Police charges victim in Deep Ellum assault for smashing suspect’s window A week after Dallas police filed a felony assault charge against a Deep Ellum bartender accused of violently beating a woman, she now faces a felony charge in the case.
L’Daijohnique Lee, 24, is wanted on a charge of criminal mischief in last month’s confrontation with bartender Austin Shuffield. Police say Lee admitted smashing a window in his pickup after the assault. “It’s not the intention of the Dallas Police Department to pick one side or another,” Deputy Chief Thomas Castro said in an afternoon news conference.
“We have to make sure that all of our citizens have been heard and that we take all of their complaints
seriously.” Lee has yet to be arrested in the case, Castro said.
A college student murdered after getting into a Fake‐Uber driver’s car
Columbia, S.C ‐ A college student was murdered on Friday night after getting into the wrong car thinking it was the Uber driver she had called. Her body was found in a field hours after she got into the vehicle she mistakenly thought was her Uber ride died from multiple sharp force injuries, the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division said Monday.
Samantha Josephson, 21, a student at the University of South Carolina, called an Uber around 2 a.m. Friday in Columbia, and was last seen getting into a black Chevy Impala, said Columbia the Police Chief. Turkey hunters found her body 14 hours later in the field in Clarendon County, about 90 miles away.
The Law Enforcement Division cited an autopsy report from the Clarendon County Coroner. Authorities declined to release additional information. Josephson’s body had numerous wounds, including on her head, neck, face, upper
body, leg, and foot, according to arrest warrants for suspect Nathaniel David Rowland.
Nathaniel David Rowland, has been arrested on charges of murder and kidnapping in the death of Josephson.
Lightfoot says Chicago mayoral victory means ‘a city reborn’

CHICAGO (AP) — Chicago Mayor‐elect Lori Lightfoot’s resounding victory was a clear call for change at City Hall and
a historic repudiation of the old‐style, insider politics that have long defined the nation’s third‐largest city.
Lightfoot, a former federal prosecutor who’d never been elected to public office, defeated Cook County Board President and longtime City Council member Toni Preckwinkle on Tuesday with backing from voters across the
city. Late results showed Lightfoot, 56, winning every one of the city’s 50 wards.
Lightfoot also made history, becoming the first black woman and the first openly gay person to be elected
Chicago mayor. Chicago will become the largest U.S. city to have a black woman serve as mayor when Lightfoot is sworn on May 20. She will join seven other black women currently serving as mayors in major U.S. cities, including Atlanta and New Orleans, and will be the second woman to lead Chicago.

After many dangers, toils and snares, the long‐lost Aretha Franklin concert film “Amazing Grace” has finally seen the light, and good Lord is it good. Filmed over two sessions in January 1972 at the New Temple Missionary Baptist Church in the Watts section of Los Angeles, it captures Franklin at the absolute apex of her power. The colossal accompanying double LP, which didn’t suffer the same fate as the footage, is already justly revered and remains the best‐selling gospel record of all time. But to see it is to believe.

Nipsey Hussle’s suspected killer caught; charges, court loom
By ANDREW DALTON LOS ANGELES (AP) — After a nearly 48‐hour manhunt, police arrested the suspect they say gunned down Nipsey Hussle in front of the popular rapper’s South Los Angeles clothing store.
Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies detained Eric Holder, 29, on Tuesday afternoon in the city of Bellflower, two days after the shooting and 20 miles away from the crime scene. LAPD detectives quickly arrived to verify that he was the suspect they’d sought. The focus now shifts from the streets to the courtroom. Holder is likely to be charged with killing Hussle and to make his first appearance in front of a judge in the next two days.
Authorities announced Holder as a suspect Monday night, publicizing his face and name and publicly urging him
to turn himself in. Police said a tip from a citizen led them to Holder. Hussle and Holder knew each other, and the two had some kind of personal dispute in the hours before the rapper was killed, police Chief Michel Moore said at a news conference earlier Tuesday.
The two men had several interactions on Sunday, and Holder returned to the store with a handgun and opened
fire on Hussle and two other men, who survived the shooting, police said. The chief did not reveal how the two men were acquainted or offer any details about their dispute, but he emphasized it was a personal matter between Hussle and Holder.
Hussle acknowledged that he was involved with a gang when he was younger, and police said Holder is a gang
member, but the chief said gang rivalries played no role in the shooting.
