MY DAY: REVISING HISTORY
|I know you have heard of the new age Freedom Riders who are young ambassadors from the Dallas area reenacting the journey of the original Civil Rights Freedom Riders. In the early 60’s a group of black and white Civil Rights activists launched a series of bus trips across the Southern States starting in Washington, D. C. Well, today a group of Texas youth are tracing the steps and routes of these heroes.
The founder/visionary of this educational re-enactment is Dr. Jerry Chambers, forty(40)year veteran educator, who recently returned to Dallas with his ambassadors after attending the John
Lewis Forum at the Congressional Black Caucus and highlighting the 50th Anniversary of the Freedom Riders.
