MS. TEEN – TEXAS 2016 PAGEANT

My name is Taija A. Bowers. I am 17 years old and a senior in High School. I have been selected as one of the State Finalist for Ms. Teen-Texas 2016 Pageant hosted by the National American Miss. It will be held July 30-31, 2016 at the Hotel Inter-Continental-Dallas, Addison, TX.

It was really unexpected. I though a person like me who has, some tomboyish ways and casual- look, never really into the girly things would be selected.

I was so excited, but at the same time nervous. I want to be part of this pageant experience to build a greater self-esteem and leadership skills. I want to use my skills to help other young girsl who never thought the pageant scene was for them-they could have the same wonderful experience that Im feeling. I volunteer in my community a lot, but this is different for me.

I want to show girls that is not all about wearing make-up, long dresses and heels. It is about being able to be yourself, how to dress for any occasion and being comfortable with yourself. You can be casual and dressy- but most of all be yourself and still be a winner.

However, I didn’t realize how costly it would be ($2,000.00). I wanted to cancel, but in my heart I really want to take the challenge. I see how it will help me along the way as I continue to build my life goals. The scholarships, the awards and training is so valuable to young ladies like myself.
