Mayor Eric Johnson elected to U.S. Conference of Mayors Advisory Board

DALLAS — Mayor Eric Johnson on Tuesday was officially elected to serve on the United States Conference of Mayors (USCM) Advisory Board.

USCM is a nonpartisan organization that represents more than 1,400 cities that have populations of 30,000 or more. Each city is represented in the conference by its chief elected official, the mayor. The mayors collectively work through the conference’s standing committees to adopt policy resolutions.

The Advisory Board makes policy and program recommendations to USCM’s Executive Committee.

“I am honored to be elected to the Advisory Board by my counterparts from cities across the country,” Mayor Johnson said. “Mayors are on the front lines of our country’s most significant challenges and have spent recent months addressing the COVID-19 pandemic, racial injustice, and pressing economic and social needs. I look forward to continuing to advocate for Dallas on a national stage, and I am excited to work in this new capacity with my fellow mayors as we champion policies that help cities flourish.”

Mayor Johnson, who was sworn in as the 60th Mayor of Dallas in June 2019, was already a member of USCM leadership, serving as Vice Chair for Transit on the Transportation and Communications Committee. He is also a member of the International Affairs Committee.
