LEADER OF THE WEEK: Mrs. Cynthia Bell

Mrs. Cynthia Bell was born in Dallas, Texas as the youngest of four children to Dr. George and Ada Willis.

She attended William Brown miller Elementary for kindergarten through third Grade and T.L. Marsalis for fifth and sixth grade she was an honor roll student and a member of Girl Scouts of America. In junior high she attended Atwell Middle School. She was the School’s first African American Drill Team officer. She was also a member of the National Honor Society, in her high school years she attended skyline High School. She was a member of the Skyline Drill Team, the national Honor Society and completed school one year early. Her college years were spent in East Texas State University in Commerce Texas where she her Bachelors Degree in Early Childhood Education, she was a member of the East Texas Flag Corp Band and on the Dean’s List. As a sophomore she was presented as an Idlewild Cotillion Debutante. She was an educator with the Dallas Independent School District for 32 years, all at Lakewood Elementary; she was honored as a PTA Life Member who’s who among American Educator’s and Teacher of the year. Her Master Degree work was done at North Texas State Uni8versity and she also traveled, to Canada as a reading specialist. She is a member of Saint Paul A. M. E. Church in Dallas and serves on the Stewardess Board and Women’s Missionary Society, her volunteer work includes working with the visiting nurses association-meals on wheels program, J. T. Brasher School volunteer, visiting nursing homes, and assisting with the recent African American Hall of fame induction, she is the mother of two adult sons Thearin and Quentin Bell, in her spare time she enjoys visiting the country and being with family.
