Jarvis Christian College Choir to Perform in Carnegie Hall in 2017
|Hawkins, TX – For some, performing in New York City’s historic Carnegie Hall is just a dream. But that dream will soon become reality for members of the Jarvis Christian College Choir.
Choir Director Bruce Alvin Thompson received a personal invitation for the Choir to perform May 13, 2017, with the New England Symphonic Orchestra under the direction of conductor and composer John Rutter, who will be conducting “Magnificat” and “Canticles.”
Rutter’s other works include “Gloria” (1974), “Requiem” (1985), “Psalmfest” (1993) and “Mass of the Children” (2003).
“It’s an honor to be asked to perform ‘Gloria’ with Maestro John Rutter at Carnegie Hall next year. This will be one of many major performances in 2017 by the Jarvis Choir,” Thompson said. “As we seek to gain national and international acclaim we are being asked to perform on major concert stages both in the United States and abroad. This is great for the choir and school. Our students will benefit greatly from these experiences — both musically and intellectually.”
The Jarvis Christian College Choir will join choirs from throughout the United States for the Carnegie Hall performance.
