In our last edition, July 18, we happily shared photos of our beloved former Co-Publisher and Vice-President of the Dallas Post Tribune Newspaper, Mrs. Dorothy Lee, celebrating her 98th Birthday.

Sadly, this week, we announce her final arrangements of life, as indicated in the photo below.

Please look for our upcoming Special Edition, A Joyous Celebration of the Life of Mrs. Dorothy Lee, as we honor her memory together.

Because of your dedication, the Dallas Post Tribune will be 77 years old on September 17. We value and treasure your loyalty, readership, and devotion over these years in business.

Mrs. Lee’s and the Dallas Post Tribune’s families deeply appreciate your support and prayers during this difficult time.

Remembering the Life of Mrs. Dorothy Evans Lee

My Day
By Dr. J. Ester Davis

Mrs. Dorothy Lee (The Admired Anchor of The Dallas Post Tribune Newspaper) changed addresses this week.  My first thought of Mrs. Lee and her extraordinary life lives in Proverbs 31:25: “She… is clothed in strength and dignity”.  But knowing…. I could be prejudiced because I have worked for the award-winning paper for so many years and I made a few phone calls.  Please let me share what I recorded with you.

From the desk of Norma Adams Wade, renown columnist, Dallas Morning News, Texas Metro, Retired: “Mrs. Lee was strong, supportive, knowledgeable and delightful to work with. Her decorum and preparation reminded you of one of your schoolteachers.”

James W. Breedlove (Alice), USAF Retired, was appointed Regional Administrator of SBA, Region 6 in 1994. Region 6 was Texas, Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma and New Mexico.   He recalls that Mrs. Lee was a ‘rock solid’ person, precisely maintaining the business offices, employees, grand parties, et cetera.  She encouraged the two men, Dr. Theo Lee, a retired principal and the retired pilot, to collaborate. It was described as ‘a glorious time’ because Dr. Lee commissioned the retired pilot on a course of action to write a continuous series on the school system.

Dr. Barbara Steele (Judge Cleophus Steele), former President, National Bar and Bench Spouses of America: “Mrs. Lee was a class act in her daily walk.  Her sheer presence in a room spoke volumes”.

Hertha Echols, President, Top Ladies of Distinction (2007 – 2011):  “Mrs. Lee was Chaplain of our Chapter for many years.  She was a dedicated member, quiet, and very generous.  Just recently, on June 20, 2024, we honored her with the “Precious Orchid Award” on Founder’s Day.  She was a member of ‘Top Ladies’ for thirty-nine(39)years.”

Dr. Molly Johnson Williams, Texas State Convenor, National Council of Negro Women: “Mrs. Lee was an impeccable Christ-like woman.  I knew her.  She was highly regarded and held in high esteem by all the other organizations across the State of Texas.”

Dr. Sharon Middlebrooks, Dallas President NAACP: “Mrs. Lee did not know me, but I knew her.  I had the opportunity to be in meetings with some of her friends, who spoke of her approach, mannerisms, and good deeds.  A soft-spoken ‘jewel’ that served as a pathway and beacon of light for women, especially younger women”.
