Effort aims to boost enrollment of Black and English Language Learner students in Dallas ISD magnet and choice school programs

Dallas ISD’s application period for students who wish to attend a magnet or other choice school or specialty program in 2021-2022 is now open! A district priority is to increase enrollment of Black and English Language Learner students in magnet and choice school programs.

The Magnet Schools Application Initiative, a collaborative effort of the Department of Centralized Enrollment and Magnet Programs and the Racial Equity Office (REO), is hosting Community Conversations designed to assist interested students and families with navigating the application process and learning about the new platform Choose Dallas ISD, a one-stop application system that will make it easier for families to find the best-fit school for their child.

The virtual Community Conversations will be held on the following dates from 6 to 8 p.m.:

December 1, 3 & 17

January 12, 14, 19 & 21

Attendees will receive assistance in identifying the best-fit magnet school for their child, along with instruction and mentoring to successfully complete the application process. The workshops are free and open to all Dallas ISD students. To register, visit www.dallasisd.org/racialequity.
