DeSoto ISD Students Compete, Five Advance To NAACP Nationals
|(DESOTO, TX) — Twenty (20) DHS students competed in NAACP Tri-Cities (Cedar Hill, DeSoto, Duncanville) Branch Local ACT-SO (Afro-Academic, Cultural, Technological and Scientific Olympics) competition at DeSoto High School on April 23.
Several DeSoto students competed in the vocal category (classical and classical), culinary arts, oratory, engineering, poetry (performance and written), instrumental (classical and classical), dramatics, and dance.
This competition was filled with several students from around the Metroplex with competitive programs and DeSoto went home with the most awards! The students in bold will represent Texas at the 107th NAACP Convention & ACT-SO Competition in Cincinnati, Ohio that will take place in July! During this time they will attend several master classes and compete for scholarship money.
