Desoto Author, R. Jay Berry, Releases Sixth Novel, Forever Stylish, Praying Clara
Author R. Jay Berry recently released her sixth novel and final book in the Forever series, “Forever Stylish, Praying Clara.” This forever book is based on actual events and reveals the story of a young girl’s determination to ensure her future was better than her past. Through this interesting story, Berry pens Clara’s story from age six and chronicles her disappointments, her successes, and her many trials that shaped the person she became. According to the author, her inspiration for writing “Forever Stylish, Praying Clara,” came from seeing Clara’s happiness in her everyday life and how she uses her testimony to profess her love for the Lord and tell of his goodness.
- Jay Berry is also the acclaimed best-selling author of the “Sunday Rose” trilogy, which chronicles the story of her maternal grandmother. Additionally, Mrs. Berry is the author of the first two books in the Forever series, “Forever Love” and Forever Friends Eight on Ten. In 2018 she was nominated by the Authors Show for Top Female Author for Forever Friends Eight on Ten and again in 2019 for her latest book, Forever Stylish, Praying Clara. All six of her books carry the themes of faith, family, and friendships, and are all historical fiction based on actual events.
Mrs. Berry received her formal education from Ursuline Academy, Texas Woman’s University, and Amber University, respectively. She is a retired educator from the Dallas Independent School District after 30 years of service where she was the Executive Director of the Academic Services Department. She is also a proud member of the New Mt. Gilead Baptist Church and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. She has been married to her husband, Bernard, for 40 years and they have one son Stephen, daughter-in-law Jewel, and a German Shepherd named Strawberry Sundae.
