Dallas Sidekicks Announce Home Opener, Creation of New Indoor Soccer Super League

This fall marks the 30-year anniversary of the Dallas Sidekicks franchise, and the team has announced that kickoff for the 2014-15 season will come on Saturday, October 25, 2014. The Sidekicks will host the Missouri Comets in the inaugural match of the newly formed Major Arena Soccer League.

This afternoon it was announced that the top professional indoor teams from the US and Mexico, most previously competing in the MISL or PASL, have come together to create the MASL. The league currently has 24 teams with divisional alignments, playoff format and complete regular season schedules to be announced in September.

The Sidekicks have been chosen to host the MASL’s inaugural match, taking on the 2013-14 MISL champion Missouri Comets. The game will be played at the Sidekicks’ home arena, the Allen Event Center.

“We are excited to open the season against such a high caliber opponent,” Sidekicks owner Ronnie Davis said. “Unifying all of these teams was an important move for indoor soccer in the US, and we hope that everyone gets on board with us because this as an exciting time for our sport.” Tickets for the home opener will go on sale to the general public Tuesday, July 1 via Ticketmaster.
