ConnsRoger Q. Mills will be the recipient of a new washer and dryer set from Conn’s HomePlus on Thursday, October 20. Conn’s, the furniture and specialty home goods retailer, is celebrating the donation by hosting a fun and interactive laundry lesson for 3rd graders to teach a life-long skill and to encourage the students to help out at home. The donation is significant as it gives the school a resource to wash clothing for students who may not have access to laundry at home — building confidence for the children and supporting school attendance.

At the event, students will don customized Roger Q. Mills Jaguars t-shirts — “Fresh. Clean. Jags.” —  to compete in a fast-paced laundry relay race where the kids will cycle through a series of stations to separate laundry, fill the washer, unload the dryer and fold shirts. A teacher from Roger Q. Mills will lead the “Laundry 101” course.

“We are proud to partner with Roger Q. Mills Elementary to provide the school with a washer and dryer. This donation is an important resource for the school to help keep students’ clothes clean, so they can learn with confidence,” says Conn’s HomePlus CEO Norm Miller. “Beyond the donation, we are excited to give the students a fun and engaging lesson in laundry to teach a life-long skill the kids can use to help out at home.”

The event will close with a chocolate ice cream party — followed by any necessary stain treatment of the kids’ shirts.

Earlier this week, Conn’s HomePlus donated a washer-dryer set to a Jackson, Mississippi, school.
