|Dallas County Commissioners vote to Extend “STAY- AT-HOME” Order through May 15
Dallas – Tuesday, Dallas County Commissioners voted 3-2 to extend the county’s stay-at-home order until May 15. A few exceptions with restrictions in place on which businesses may operate and how large public gatherings should be while continuing advising people to “stay-at-home.” unless they are conducting “essential business.”
Dr. Philip Huang, Dallas County Health and Human Services Director, recommended that the court extend the Stay-at-Home order until May 31. Experts advised that cases should trend downward for at least two weeks before the community begins to return to normal, May 15 was a compromise.
Jenkins is concerned that Texas is currently testing 27 out of every 100,000 people. He would like to see that number increased to at least 138 before things start reopening. Jenkins hopes the tests will show that COVID-19 is often symptom-free and ultimately less deadly than first believed.
