The City of Dallas will move to become a designated Purple Heart City, at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, September 5th at Dallas City Hall during the next Dallas City Council meeting.

Purple Heart cities are those cities known for their strong commitment to veterans, with a notable number of citizens who have received the Purple Heart. That Purple Heart military medal is given to those who are wounded or killed in action.

The city’s proclamation will commend the “valor of the extraordinary men and women who have received the Purple Heart … and confirm Dallas’ commitment to honor all Veterans who have served our country, so faithfully, in defense of our freedoms.”

Becoming a Purple Heart City comes at no cost to the city.
