The Dallas City Council Wednesday approved a $1.12 million engineering contract for the future pedestrian bridge into the Joppa community, along with improvements to Carbondale Street and its connection to Great Trinity Forest Way. Engineering is anticipated to be substantially complete at the end of 2023, with construction commencing soon thereafter. Council Member Adam Bazaldua released the following statement after passage of the projects:

“This project will greatly improve connectivity to the Joppa neighborhood, improving public safety and access for all modes of travel,” Bazaldua said. “This is an enormous step towards delivering a long-promised project to the people of Joppa. My hope is that this sends a clear and resounding message to Joppa that the City is committed to serving them – and all communities throughout Dallas.”
