Calvin Davis is a 1958 graduate of Wiley College and will be inducted into the college “Hall of Fame” on Saturday, November 1, 2014 at the luncheon honoring “Excellence in Athletics.”

In high School in Fort Valley, Georgia Calvin lettered for four years in basketball, football, track and field,

As a senior at H.A. Hunt High School, he set a record in the 220-yard low hurdles and was part of a record setting 4×100 relay team at the Tuskegee Relays.

He capped the memorable Season with High Point Trophy in the State Track and field meet.

When Calvin Davis entered Wiley College as a freshman from fort Valley, Georgia, he continued to be an outstanding athlete on the field and in the classroom.

As a freshman, Calvin won the “High Point Award’ at the southwestern Athletic Conference Track Meet.

He was undefeated in the high- and –low hurdlers races for the next three years.

Calvin Davis was named All- S.W.A.C. for three Years and ranked 7th and 8th nationally by the N.C.A.A. and N.A.I.A. in 1957 and 1958.

This outstanding athlete, graduated from Wiley College in 1958 with a degree in Biology, Health, and Physical Education.

In 1959, Calvin entered the armed Forces Special Services for two years. While there, he ran track, played basketball and coached football and track. He won the hi – and low- hurdlers championships with ‘all-5th, Corp and’ All-8th Army Teams.

After returning from the Army, Calvin was employed by D.I.S.D, The Dallas City Parks, and Park South Y.M.C.A.

To further his education, he attended North Texas State University, and Texas Southern University. After returning to his hometown in Georgia, he continued his studies at Fort Valley State University, and Georgia Southern University. By being Certified in Science, health, Physical Education K-12 And middle School Education, his teaching and coaching career took him from Texas, Georgia, Michigan and Alabama. He retired in 2000 from Twiggs County School System.
