Bishop Harold Edwards

Bishop Harold Edwards is the Senior Pastor of the Church of The Living God, where he has served since August, 1998.  He began his Ministry in June, 1957 and has actively been engaged in the ministry for more than sixty years.  He was born and reared in Los Angeles, California where he was educated in the public schools.  He graduated from Jefferson High School and attended Los Angeles City College, where he was elected the first black President of the student body.  He graduated from life Bible College with a Bachelor of Theology Degree.

Bishop has pastored churches in California, Wichita Kansas and Memphis Tennessee.  During his tenure at Memphis, Dr. Edwards formally earned his Master’s in Theology and Doctorate of Ministry.  After his assignment to Texas, he was promoted to the Office of Overseer.

Dr. Harold Edwards is extremely active in both civic and religious organizations.  He pioneered the Office of National Minister of Programs and Protocol for the Brotherhood of the Church Of The Living God.  He volunteers with the American Cancer Society and the Dallas County Sherriff’s Department, as a charter member of the Chaplain’s Unit.  Currently Bishop Edwards is the Presiding Prelate of the Seventh Episcopal District and Vice-President of the Interdenominational Ministerial Alliance.

For several years, the Bishop led pilgrimages to the Holy Land and is attested a “Jerusalem Pilgrim”, by the Minister of Customs in the Holy City, Capital of Israel.  He was inducted into the Religious Hall of Fame with the class of 2001 and elected to the Office of Bishop in 2002.  Bishop Edwards completed his dissertation, “A Scriptural View of Grace”, and earned the degree of Doctor of Philosophy in the spring, 2004 from Vision International University.  The Bishop is married to Dr. Jan Edwards, and they have 4 children and 9 grand-children.

The Church of the Living God at 3711 Biglow Street will celebrate The Bishop’s Pastoral Ministry on Saturday, September 15th at 6:00 pm with a Musical program for the community celebration and on Sunday Morning, September 16, 2018 the local congregation will celebrate the Pastor during the Morning Worship Experience at 10:00 am.  Reverend Alvin Green and the One Rugged Cross Baptist Church will be the special Guest, with selections from the Choir and a Message from their Pastor.  The service will feature an open mike, for expressions, words of encouragement and congratulatory remarks from the congregation, ministers and various local public and private personalities. Christians in the state of Texas and other states in the U.S.A. join members of the Church of the Living God in this honor and celebration.
