City of Dallas Proposed FY 2019-20 Budget
|DALLAS – Each year, the City Manager presents the City budget and allows residents to weigh in on how their tax dollars are spent. This proposed budget continues to put service first to meet residents’ needs with empathy, high ethical standards, a commitment to excellence, and a focus on equity.
The City Manager’s proposed FY 2019-20 budget of $3.8 billion addresses six strategic priorities: • Public Safety • Mobility Solutions, Infrastructure, and Sustainability • Economic and Neighborhood Vitality • Human and Social Needs • Quality of Life • Government Performance and Financial Management
The budget invests heavily in public safety and first responders. “Ensuring residents, first responders, visitors, and employees are safe is our top priority,” said T.C. Broadnax, Dallas City Manager. “With this budget, we are committing to funding public safety now, so we can continue to recruit and retain our first responders.”
A big part of the overall budget is $1.4 billion for the City’s General Fund, which supports the core services residents depend on every day such as police, fire, parks, libraries, and more. Dallas Water Utilities and Sanitation Services are also part of the budget, and the budget includes resources to implement the bond program voters approved in November 2017 for streets, facilities, and infrastructure.
This budget is supported and informed by valuable feedback from residents throughout the year. Residents now have two options to provide further feedback on the FY 2019-20 budget:
- Attend any Budget Town Hall Meeting in person
- Participate in a Virtual Budget Town Hall Meeting via computer, mobile device, or telephone (Flash Player required)
