Changing of the DeSoto ISD Board of Trustees
|(DESOTO, TX) — DeSoto ISD Board of Trustees swore in elected members and then selected new officers at the May 23 Board Meeting.
Newcomer Kathy Goad will occupy Place 2. Mrs. Goad has been in the district for dozens of years as a teacher and the administrator over the WINGS dropout recovery program. Mrs. Goad and her husband Larry, also a district employee, are long-time residents of DeSoto and their three daughters are DHS alumni. She replaces Van Stripling on the Board.
Carl Sherman, Jr. was sworn into his second three-year term in Place 1. Sherman, flanked by his wife and two children, is the son of former Mayor Carl Sherman, Sr. He encouraged the district to strive for new horizons and continue to be intentional in all actions toward the education of all children.
Following the swearing in, the Board adjourned to executive session and returned with the following election of officers:
- President – Carl Sherman, Jr.
- Vice President – Aubrey C. Hooper
- Secretary – Sandre Moncriffe
The following appointments were then made by Board President Carl Sherman, Jr.
- TASB Delegate – Karen Daniel
- TASB Alternate – Jerry Hall
