Newt HopkinsNewt Hopkins was born on July 28th 1944 to Lucy and Arthur Hopkins in Centerville, TX in the community of Pleasant Springs.

He was baptized at New Zion Baptist Church where he received a strong Biblical foundation.

He attended Frederick Douglas High School in Centerville where he excelled in athletics and academics. After he graduated from Frederick Douglas he matriculated to Prairie View A&M University where he received a Bachelor’s Degree in industrial Education and a Master’s Degree in Education.

He started his career as a teacher in Dallas ISD and then took his talents to Prairie View A&M University College of Engineering where he served as a Recruiter. After several years of service at Prairie View he returned to Dallas and went to work with the Fort Worth ISD and culminated his career as an educator with the Wilmer-Hutchins ISD. During his tenure as an educator his students were very successful at many industrial education competitions.

He is preceded in death by his parents Lucy and Arthur Hopkins, four brothers John A. Hopkins, Eglar -Hopkins, Joe Lee Hopkins, Lee Edward Hopkins, and one sister Mary Allen.

Newt departed his earthly home on January 20th, 2015. He leaves to cherish his memories his wife Jessie, daughter Channie, son Newt Delvin, one sister Varma Sandifer, two brothers Oland Hopkins and Harold Hopkins, Sr. and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
