Cedar Crest Celebrates 90 Years of Divine Favor

During the whole month of May 2014, Cedar Crest Church of Christ will celebrate its 90th church anniversary. The theme “Celebrating 90 Years of Divine Favor,” depicts a wonderful and historic time in Cedar Crest’s church history as the congregation will reflect and give honor to those who paved the way for its existence and many other Churches of Christ in the brotherhood.

This divine era dates back in the 1920’s with evangelist K.C. Thomas, the unforgettable C.C. Locke, Waydell Nixon, Cephas Alvin Northcutt, Sr. and now ministering Jon W. Morrison. These great men of God have led the way and have made their mark which has taken Cedar Crest Church of Christ to where it is today. The church’s hearts desire is to make special acknowledgement of commitments sacrifices and labors of love demonstrated not only by these men, but many other great leaders of this congregation. Therefore, it is with great honor and delight that the members pay hommage to the birth of Cedar Crest Church of Christ from its humble beginnings at Sparks Street Church of Christ and Ninth Street Church of Christ and presently Cedar Crest Church of Christ.

“The Crest” would like to invite you to join in the celebration of its 90th church anniversary in May 2014. A month long celebration is planned to commemorate the achievements and milestones of this great church. The line of events will kick off with a Celebration Banquet on Saturday, May 3rd which will be held at The Southern Cross, a Community Block Party, the Gospel Hour Radio
Chorus Musical, various programs and the finale, the 90th Anniversary Special Program & Homecoming, all on various dates throughout the month of May.  host of guest ministers which includes Dr. Rodney Dulin of the Central Pointe COC in Dallas, Jeff Jefferson of the South View COC in Magnolia Arkansas, J.K. Hamilton of the Mountain View COC in Dallas, Arnelious Crenshaw of the Northeast COC in Oklahoma City, OK, William Stephens of the Southside COC in Durham, North Carolina, Dr. Paul Day of the Oak Gardens COC in Dallas, Dr. Ralph Draper of the Trinity Gardens COC in Houston, TX and A. Creig Christman of the Southern Hills COC in Dallas and many presentations from church ministries, friends and community leaders.

Cedar Crest Church of Christ had its humble beginning in 1924 and will celebrate its 90th Anniversary in May 2014. It is located in the heart of Dallas at 2134 Cedar Crest Boulevard. Bible Class begins at 8:45am and Sunday morning worship begins at 10:00am and evening worship begins at 4:30pm.

Jon W. Morrison is the ministering evangelist and Cephas Alvin Northcutt, Sr. is pastor emeritus. Jon W. Morrison, minister of Cedar Crest Church of Christ, is devoted to the daily needs of the congregation, community evangelism, initiatives for seniors, and youth empowerment. The church offers several outreach programs such as assisting low-income families by offering free tax preparation through VITA an IRS Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program;food pantry and clothes ministry, Back to School Fair, Health Fair and more. With faith, Bro. Morrison is leading The Crest Family to be a greater Christ-centered congregation committed to spiritual and community service. A church that is the heart of Dallas with Dallas at heart!
