What a tremendous psalm of praise and worship of God we have before us.  Loving praise should evoke from our hearts because of who God is and certainly what He has done for us.  We can’t praise God enough; and, it should be settled in our hearts that we will praise His name, and let us join the psalmist in Psalm 108:1-5, when he said, “O God, my heart is fixed; I will sing and give praise, even with my glory.  Awake, psaltery and harp: I myself will awake early.  I will praise thee, O Lord, among the people: and I will sing praises unto thee among the nations.  For thy mercy is great above the heavens: and thy truth reacheth unto the clouds.  Be thou exalted, O God, above the heavens: and thy glory above all the earth.”

The psalmist in verses 1-3 unfolds unto us that it is good to render praise to God because of the wonderful things God has done; “IT IS A GOOD THING TO GIVE THANKS UNTO THE LORD, AND TO SING PRAISES UNTO THY NAME, O MOST HIGH” (v. 1).  Praises should be bestowed to God because of His loving kindness and faithfulness unto us (v. 2).  Instruments were used in praise to God (v. 3).  As believers of this dispensation of grace, everyday should be a day of thanksgiving and praise, for Psalm 100:4-5 states, “Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, and into His courts with praise: be thankful unto Him, and bless His name.  For the LORD is good; His mercy is everlasting; and His truth endureth to all generations.”

In verses 4-9, the psalmist continued to praise God for His awesome deeds among His people, even destroying the works of evil doers.  He rejoices as he declares, “For thou, LORD, hast made me glad through thy work: I will triumph in the works of thy hands.  O LORD, how great are thy works! and thy thoughts are very deep” (vv. 4-5).  Because of the fact that God will be exalted, the psalmist declared that His people will be blessed and will see the destruction of the wicked.

This wonderful psalm concludes in verses 12-15 with the psalmist declaring that the righteous will prosper and flourish and will proclaim the righteousness of God.  Verse 15 states:  “To shew that the LORD is upright: He is my rock, and there is no unrighteousness in Him.”

May God Bless!
