“The grass withers and the flowers fall, but the word of our God stands forever,” (Isaiah 40:8).  During our lives, we may have been strong, lovely, or handsome. But as we draw closer to the end of our journey, we might be looking back over our lives and bemoan what we were and wish we still could be. It’s difficult to let go of who we are or who we used to be. We don’t want to become dependent on anyone.

However, in the book of Isaiah, we are reminded that we are like withering grass and falling flowers. Yet, we can find strength in God’s word because His word “stands forever,” (Isaiah 40:8).  His word never fails.  And even though we may be coming closer to the end of our journey, we don’t have to live our lives in fear.

We should be fearless because, “…those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength…they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint” (Isaiah 40:31). Our heavenly Father offers us comfort and peace in His word. His word is never failing it is always healing and can bring renewal to our lives.

When we are able and willing to become closer to God, our spirits are refreshed and renewed in Him.  This is why it is important to not depend on our own strength because at some point in our lives, we will have to depend on something greater than ourselves in order to help us to make it through our difficult circumstances. The good news is that there is always hope and we can find our hope and our strength in God’s unfailing word.

Have you read your Bible today? Reading God’s word is a wonderful way to hear His voice, learn of His love for us, and to renew our strength. Can you read your Word all this week? I know I will.  Amen? Amen.
