Have you ever stopped to examine your life? Have you ever stopped to examine the choices you’ve made? Being able to examine one’s life is important. In 1 Corinthians it says, “Everyone ought to examine themselves…,” (1 Corinthians 11:28).  If we are able to examine our life, it can help us to see ourselves more clearly.

When we take the time to reflect upon our lives, it allows us to look at our choices and see how they may or may not have been reflective of who we are in Christ. This is especially important when we are about to take the Lord’s Supper. This is why when we take the Lord’s Supper, self-examination helps to ensure that things are right with the Father as well as with each other.

When we take the Lord’s Supper, we are saying that we have taken the time to reflect, ask for forgiveness and we are trying to live in peace with each other. Being able to confess our sins, helps us to put God first and live out our faith. Having the right attitude and knowing that we must ask for forgiveness before we are able to sit at the table with the Father, as with the Lord’s Supper, we are taking our relationship with Him seriously and building the kind of relationship that will last a lifetime. Have you examined yourself? I know I will. Amen? Amen.
