About Us
The American Legion was chartered by Congress in 1919 as a patriotic, mutual-help, war-time veteran’s organization. A community-service organization which now numbers nearly 3 million members — men and women — in nearly 15,000 American Legion Posts worldwide. The American Legion’s national headquarters is in Indianapolis, Indiana, with additional offices in Washington, DC.

Tommie Robinson Post 802 of the American Legion was established in the 1950’s in the heart of what is known as “Sunny South Dallas”. The Post sits on Parson Street, right off of Bexar Street.  It is a tax exempt organization under Internal Revenue Code section 501(c)(19). The Post is much more than the name implies. Post 802 proudly serves the veterans, their families and the community in the Dallas County, Texas area.

Post 802 shines as an example of unselfish giving. With members from all walks of life, the Post administers volunteer programs, gives thousands of hours to the community and to veterans, and raises dollars to support its own programs as well as other worthwhile charities familiar to the Dallas community. It is all accomplished with volunteers.
