Skyline upsets Cedar Hill, 40-30DALLAS-A lock jawed Skyline defense spelled defeat for the reigning 5A State Champion Cedar Hill Longhorns on last Friday night. Skyline Head Coach Reginald Samples attributed the win to the elimination of penalties that plagued Skyline in early season.

“We’ve always had good defense, in the first two games, we had a lot of penalties on third down, but we didn’t have those penalties tonight,” said Samples.

By halftime, Cedar Hill had out run Skyline yardage wise, 193-173, but Skyline had the advantage in big plays and points as Rollison followed a 44-yard field goal by Cedar Hill’s Brooks Ralph with a 96-yard kickoff return to give his team a 27-24 lead at the half.

Skyline led, 27-24, at the half and Cedar Hill (2-1) quickly recaptured the lead early in the third period.

After holding Skyline to three plays and out to start the second half, Cedar Hill regained the lead, 30-27, on a 22-yard run up the middle from Aca’Cedric Ware. Denvre Daniels preceded him with a 15-yard run to the Skyline 22, and Ware began the scoring rush by carrying several Skyline defenders for about 9 yards on a 15-yard run to set up Cedar Hill at the Skyline 37.
