SARAH PEARL CLAY MURPHY 1929-2014Sarah Pearl Clay Murphy passed away on August 9, 2014 surrounded by her beloved family. Sarah began her life’s journey on November 8, 1929 in Big Sandy, Texas. After graduation from Booker T. Washington High in Dallas, Texas, Sarah attended Wiley College in Marshall, Texas receiving her B.A. Degree. She furthered her education receiving her Master’s Degree from Eastern Michigan University. Sarah’s career began as a 1st grade teacher at T.C. Hassell Elementary school where she worked to shape the minds of all students under her care and guidance. She excelled within the Dallas Independent School and was the Principal at C.F. Carr
Elementary School prior to her retirement after 33 years of service. Sarah was a Golden Life Member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. and true Delta Dear. She loved her Sisters. She was a role model to many young women she encountered. Sarah was the essence of beauty and embodied a kind spirit. As many would say a “Class Act”.

Sarah is survived by her loving husband, John H. Murphy, Jr.; devoted daughter, Iantha Renee’ Murphy-Iglehart (Lloyd Iglehart Jr.); granddaughters, Jannina Iglehart Johnson (Geoffrey Johnson) and Jasmine Danielle Iglehart.

Home going Service: Friday, August 15, 2014 at 11:00 AM Restland Memorial Chapel. Interment Restland Memorial Park. 13005 Greenville Ave. Dallas, Texas 75243. Wake: Thursday, August 14, 2014 from 6:00 – 8:00 pm. Restland Memorial Center.
