Training Grants- Champion Cooler Corp. and Fisher Controls Inc. have partnered with Grayson College to provide job training using two Skills Development Fund grants totaling $502,213 from the Texas Workforce Commission (TWC). “These partnerships demonstrate how communities benefit from investment in the Skills Development Fund,” said state Rep. Larry Phillips. “Local employers benefit from a more skilled workforce and the individuals trained gain advanced skills that lead to higher wages. “Champion Cooler Corp., who was recognized with the Employer of the Year award at the 2012 Texas Workforce Conference, will create or upgrade 148 jobs using a $287,200 Skills Development Fund grant. The grant will be used to improve employee skills in programmable logic controls, welding, safety, maintenance and leadership. Those trained will include assembly line workers, operators and clerks. Upon completion of the training, workers will earn an average hourly wage of $12.94.
