My Day: Katrina “Pennie” Pitre Quest Honoree 2015

Katrina Pennie PitreTo city dwellers, an acre may be meaningless.  But an acre is about the length of a football or soccer field or 16 tennis courts.  One of the most scenic and panoramic wide screen sites in Dallas is

Skyline Ranch.  Truly living up to its name, it is referred to as the ‘ranch –with-a- view’.  The ninety(90)acre Skyline Ranch is located near the new University of Texas Dallas Campus with an appropriate address of  1801 E. Wheatland Road.  Last year Skyline Ranch hosted a quarter million people at events which included complimentary services (Pitre Vision) to several thousand youth.

Katrina “Pennie” Pitre is the President and CEO of Skyline Ranch and Banquet Facility.  So many couture-minded member of society recognize her as the high end sales associate, with record sales,  at Neiman Marcus for many years.  Pennie has an outstanding record of service in this community.  She has served on the board at St. Phillips School and Community Center, American Heart Association, Dallas County Foster Care.  She is currently on the advisory board for the Dallas International Street Ministries.

Every year for the past 31 years, the Dallas Black Chamber of Commerce host the renown “Quest For Success” Luncheon.  I decided to take a high profile  in-depth look at the six(6)honorees for 2015.  Katrina “Pennie” Pitre is our 2nd guest quest honoree to be featured here.

The Skyline Ranch has dual responsibility.  Pennie’s husband/partner,  Robert Pitre,  a passionate  outspoken businessman and  visionary, share the responsibilities of the non-profit side of Skyline Ranch, Pitre Vision, a program exposing youth to wholesome outdoor fun.   The ranch is never without company.  Even when leaving their church, children follow them to spend the day at the ranch hiking, swimming, fishing and of course, mingling with the horses.  Skyline Ranch has welcomed international , national and local guest, celebrities and convention visitors to the grounds.  Their son, Jordan, can be seen leading horseback trail rides on the sprawling acreage.

I am reminded of a story Robert Pitre shared with me about the family that I thought was really cute.  Some years ago, the Skyline Ranch First Family was featured in the Dallas Convention & Visitors Bureau Guide.  It was a good picture of Robert, Pennie and Jordan… with Jordan mounted on one of the horses.  When Jordan saw himself, he announced to his parents that  “next year I want to be in the picture by myself”. Wonder which side of the aisle he got that from!!!

Back at the ranch, added accolades to Mrs. Katrina “ Pennie” Pitre  for your willing working spirit and inspiration to this community which serves as a profound  image to the world.
