Earth-Day3Dallas – Code Compliance Services will debut their Keep Dallas Clean initiative’s public outreach campaign during Earth Day Texas weekend; Friday, Saturday and Sunday in Fair Park. Code Compliance will staff a booth in Groundwork Village directly outside the Automobile Building. The public is invited to visit the booth (#324) to learn how to Keep Dallas Clean and participate in fun activities.

The City will also partner with Groundwork Dallas to conduct a Tire Removal Event on Friday.  About 150 Southwest Airlines employees have volunteered to pick up scrap tires from high dump areas around the Trinity.  Anticipated clean up areas include Pemberton Hill Road and Highway 310 at Youngblood Road.

“Earth Day Texas is about elevating environmental awareness,” said Code Compliance Director Kris Sweckard.  “So this weekend’s celebration is a great opportunity to inform residents about the environmental issues and the penalties associated with illegal dumping of scrap tires in the Trinity River.”

The Keep Dallas Clean initiative was established in 2014 by the City of Dallas in cooperation with the North Central Council of Governments, through funding from the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality.  The goal of the campaign is to help stop the illegal dumping of tires in the Trinity River Corridor through educational activities, public awareness and publicizing penalties.
