Juneteenth Celebration set for June 18 at MLK Community Center

MKKing Jr_Complex_DallasWhat: Visitors are invited to enjoy the City of Dallas annual Juneteenth event, a fun-filled family festival to be held June 18 at the Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Center. The event is sponsored by the MLK Jr. Community Center board and staff and will feature local vendors, live entertainment, food, arts and crafts, giveaways and more. All children’s activities are free.

What is Juneteenth? Juneteenth marks the anniversary of the date in 1865 when Texas slaves learned they had been emancipated. The festival brings the Dallas community together in an effort to commemorate this important moment in our nation’s history.

When: Noon to 5 p.m. Saturday, June 18

Where: Martin Luther King Community Center, 2922 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd.
