(DESOTO, TX) — DeSoto ISD announced the hiring of two-time state champion basketball coach Andrea Robinson to take the Lady Eagles to the next level. She has started with the district and will host camp opportunities this summer to prepare for the fall season.

“We are extremely excited about the experience Coach Robinson brings to the program,” stated Superintendent David Harris. “She has proven her leadership at three top programs including two state titles at Dunbar High School and two semi-finalist finishes. She was named TABC Coach of the Year both years Dunbar won the title. We look forward to beginning a new era here at Eagle Nation.”

Coach Robinson was the head coach for the Dunbar Lady Wildcats from 2002-03 to 2007-08 – taking to the program to the playoffs for the first time in ten years and then winning the 4A State Title just two years later. Dunbar repeated their title win in 2006-07. She then led the Cedar Hill Lady Longhorns from 2008-09 to 2012-13 including a 5A State Semi-finalist finish in 2010 and ranked #3 in the state. Coach Robinson has spent the last two years at Denton Guyer High School as head coach of the Lady Wildcats.

Last year, the DeSoto Lady Eagles went 17-13 and finished 4th in district before being knocked out of the playoffs in the Area Round. The last deep playoff run was in 2008 when they were the 5A State Runner Up.

Coach Robinson has her Bachelor of Arts degree and is certified in Elementary Ed., Special Ed., Health Ed. and Physical Ed. She and her husband Othell plan to relocate to the area from their current home in Argyle. They have three children.
