As everyone prepares for the Christmas season with family and friends, there are children in Dallas County without homes and must live in homeless shelters. The Iota Mu Sigma Chapter is once again partnering with Vogel Alcove to provide Christmas toys and monetary donations to purchase gifts for homeless children.

For almost 25 years, Vogel Alcove has provided free quality child development services for Dallas’ youngest victims of poverty – homeless children six weeks to five years old. Vogel Alcove is the only free comprehensive early childhood education program in the city of Dallas whose primary focus is to provide free childcare and case management for children and their families residing at 18 local emergency and domestic violence shelters and housing programs.

Zachary Thompson, Dallas County Health and Human Services (DCHHS) director and member of Iota Mu Sigma said, “I want to commend Iota Mu Sigma Chapter President Melvin Barnes and chapter members in their efforts to help homeless children have the merriest Christmas possible. As Iota Mu Sigma Chapter closes out Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity Inc.’s celebration of one century of service, our motto continues – ‘Culture For Service and Service For Humanity.’”
