DART-LogoEveryone is Irish when it comes to the Dallas St. Patrick’s Parade and Festival and this year Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) is partnering with Uber, Lyft and Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) to save you ‘a pot of gold’ by making it easier and safer to travel to the parade and party on Saturday, Mar. 19.

DART will add trains and capacity beginning at 6:28 a.m. while customers needing help with first-mile and last-mile connections to public transit have options too. Parade and festival goers can use car sharing services like Uber and Lyft. Uber is offering $10 off the first two rides using the code RIDESPD16. Lyft is offering $5 off your first five rides using the code LYFT2DART.

Meanwhile, MADD warns everyone that St. Patrick’s is one of the deadliest holidays on the road for drunk driving. Using the transportation combination of DART, Uber and Lyft to give parade and partygoers a safe and reliable door-to-door alternative to driving themselves could prevent motor vehicle accidents and save lives.

DART starts early
DART service on the day of the parade, Saturday, Mar. 19, starts early with trains every 10 minutes southbound from Parker Road Station and northbound from West End Station.

Runners and parade goers can take advantage of added trains and capacity with Red and Orange Line trains from Plano operating between 6:28 a.m. to 7:08 p.m. to Mockingbird, Lovers Lane or Park Lane stations for the Dash Down Greenville 5K or the Dallas St. Patrick’s Parade & Festival on Greenville Avenue.

Customers from Carrollton, Farmers Branch and Dallas can ride the Green Line and transfer to either the Orange or Red Line in downtown Dallas where additional trains will operate from       8 a.m. to 6:54 p.m. Passengers riding the TRE can transfer to the Orange or special event Red Line trains at Victory Station. TRE will increase seating capacity on Saturday, Mar. 19.

A Local Day Pass is the best value at only $5 for bus or light-rail and can be purchased by cash or credit card at ticket vending machines located at all DART stations. Save time and buy your passes in advance by using the GoPass℠ mobile ticketing application for Android and Apple smartphones available free through Google Play or the App Store. Be sure to activate your pass on parade day before you board your bus or train.

DART bus routes detoured

Passengers who normally use Routes 502 and 583 at Lovers Lane Station will be unable to do so for much of the day Saturday. Both routes will be detoured from Lovers Lane to serve Mockingbird Station until approximately 6 p.m. or whenever Greenville is re-opened to traffic. Route 502 will continue to serve Park Lane Station. Red and Orange Line trains to Lovers Lane will not be interrupted during the parade.

DART customers are encouraged to allow extra time due to the Rock ‘n’ Roll Dallas 5K at Fair Park and the DFW Auto Show at Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center Dallas going on that same time. Additional details concerning service adjustments for March 19 can be found at DART.org/StPatricksParade or by calling DART Customer Information at 214-979-1111.
