While some view sorority life as belonging on the college campus, the women of Alpha Kappa Alpha boldly extend their service globally to fulfill the organization’s motto of “Service to All Mankind.” Members and the community are encouraged to support the Program Initiative Project that will support persons aging out of the foster care system.

The goal is to donate $50,000 in gift cards to help these young people get off to a good start. Other events include a Youth Summit that will engage over 400 DFW middle school students; and local leaders will be honored for their efforts at the Public Luncheon on Friday, March 14. These civic advocates will be recognized for their fortitude in the fields of Health, Economics, Social Justice, Global Poverty, and Leadership.

Mrs. Chelle Luper Wilson is the Regional Director for the four-state conclave comprised of over 6,000 service-oriented women from Arkansas, Louisiana, Texas and New Mexico. Mrs. Patricia Webb serves as the General Chairman of the Dallas conference; and she is supported by Mrs. Bertha Scott of Fort Worth and Mrs. Marilyn Butler of Waco. Together, they have orchestrated a spectacular lineup of leadership training, community engagement and networking events, utilizing nearly 400 volunteers on over 40 committees to implement the work.  Things Happen in Big D; and a very BIG event is coming in March 2014. The community is encouraged to join in the fun. For sponsorship information or more
