Dallas Metroplex Musicians Association NANM Announces Scholarship Luncheon, Saturday, January 25, 2014
The Dallas Metroplex Musicians Association, an affiliate of the National Association of Negro Musicians (an historic organization since 1919), will hold its annual Scholarship Luncheon on Saturday, January 25, 2014 from 11:30 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. at the Park Inn by Radisson (Mockingbird at Stemmons), 1241 West Mockingbird Lane, Dallas TX 75247.
The Dallas Metroplex Musicians Association (DMMA) promotes the achievements of African American artists in the field of music and assists in the development of young musicians of the Dallas Metroplex. A small portion of each $50.00 ticket will help fund future scholarships; however, the organization accepts and welcomes donations for this most worthy cause of providing scholarships for children and youth who wish to study music seriously.
A highlight of the Luncheon is the gala celebration of music! All of those attending the Scholarship Luncheon will be treated to magnificent performances by accomplished musicians, some of whom are past scholarship recipients.
This annual Luncheon also provides DMMA an opportunity to recognize and honor individuals who have made extraordinary contributions to their communities in the field of music. The following musicians will be honored by being inducted into the esteemed Musicians Hall of Fame during the Luncheon: William Robertson, Kenneth Rowe and Dwight Ausbrooks. The Next Generation Professional Musician Awardees are: Carlisa Washington and Nathan Myers. In addition to these two groups of distinguished honorees, DMMA will honor its own member, John Tatum, as “Musician of the Year,” for his many accomplishments in the community and contributions to the organization.
