Cecil AndersonCecil E. Anderson, L.H.D. was born to the parentage of Caleb and Anna Kelly in Cameron, Texas on May 13, 1908. She accepted Christ an early age and joined Bethel AME Church in Cameron, Texas.

Mrs. Cecil graduated from O. J. Thomas High School in Cameron, Texas. Received a BS at Huston Tillotson; Med at Prairie View A & M University.

She was married to the late Luther James Anderson and to this union, 2 children were born, Jacqueline and Kelly Ray. Mrs. Cecil as she is called by almost everyone who knew her and Gran Gran by her grandkids.

Education was truly her passion and she has paved the way for educators today. As an educator, she was passionate, gifted and creative. Mrs. Cecil taught grades 1-8 in Troy and Bocholt’s Texas for several years. Mrs. Cecil went back to Cameron, Texas to teach school, and commuted back and forth from Dallas, Texas to Cameron, Texas until she retired in 1975 and made Dallas her home permanent home. Mrs. Cecil sponsored the Miss OJ Thomas High School pageant and the Student Council. She retired with 44 years in education and has membership with the teachers Retirement Association. Mrs. Cecil was the director of the building fund pledges for the construction of the Newton Hospital in Cameron, Texas, coordinator of the Western Division of the March of Dimes, den mother for 14 Boy Scouts, precinct Chairman of the Republican Party #3318 and provided fruit baskets at Christmas time for the elderly in the community for many years.

Mrs. Cecil has travel extensively over the Continental United States of America, Southern Caribbean and Aruba. This does not tell her life story; it just gives you a glimpse of her life.

She was preceded in death by her husband, daughter, mother and father, grandparents, 4 sisters Letona, Dorothy, Iris and Geraldine, 2 brothers Elmwood (Bud) and Hartford.

She leaves to cherish her memory son Kelly Ray of Dallas, Texas, Son- in Law Winston Turner of Dallas, Texas, One special Granddaughter and grandson (caregiver) Ursula (Brian) Medlock, of Red Oak Texas, granddaughters Shaniqua W Williams of Dallas, Texas, Kalimah and Konesha Anderson of Cincinnati, Ohio, Stacey (Brian) Anderson of Dayton Ohio. Great, grand’s Crystal (Damien) Lewis of Seagoville, Texas, Golden (Cherelle) Dotson, Darylneishia, Jasmine and Daryl Dotson all of Dallas, Texas, A’Layah and Arayana Anderson all of Cincinnati, Ohio, Winston and Alphoso Williams of Dallas, Texas. Great grand’s Ja’Tavian, Preston, Bryon, Cameron, Nia, Deja, Tamia, Jada, Jalaya, Golden Jr., Kayden, Jazza, Dar’Yanna, AKA Donnie. Sisters Dr. Maxine Boles of Dallas, Texas, Hortense Montgomery of Wichita Falls, Texas. Very special niece Miosha shaun (Brian) McCann of Grand Prairie, Special nieces Yola (John) Givens of Waxahachie, Texas, Tasha (Ricky) Bell of Wichita Falls, Alyane Mitchell, Kathy Webster all of Dayton, Ohio, Debra Duncan of Waco, Texas. Nephews Michael (Debra) Kelly, Ellmwood Kelly Jr. of Atlanta, George. Special family friend of the family Bobbie Dibbles of Dallas, Texas and a host of relatives and friends.
