The United States Air Force Academy located in Colorado Springs, Colorado is one of the United State Academies for officer candidates. The Academy’s stated mission is “to educate, train, and inspire men and women to become officers of character, motivated to lead the United States Air Force in service to our nation.”
Eagle Scout is the “Apex of Scouting.” Eagle Scout is the highest rank in Scouting. An Eagle Scout is a Scout with the highest rank attainable in the Boy Scouts of America. Since its introduction in 1911, Eagle Scout is held for life. Requirements include earning at least 21 merit badges and demonstrating Scout Spirit, service, and leadership. This includes an extensive service project that the Scout plans, organizes, leads, and manages.
The mission of the Boy Scouts of America is to prepare young people to make ethical choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the scout oath and law.
Of the millions of kids that join scouting only about 4% ever make the rank of Eagle Scout. By the time a young man reaches Eagle, they will have studied medicine, politics, journalism, and finance and project management.
