A New Beginning
|As the holiday season approaches I want to wish all of the residents of the 30th Congressional District a very special Christmas and a joyous New Year. As a community we should reflect on those things, large and small, that brought us happiness during 2014. Of course there were events that were unpleasant or that may have made us sad, but we must remember that a New Year is coming, and it will bring with it time for renewal.
We must continue to work for what is just, and maintain our efforts to meet the needs of those who find themselves outside the margins of our society. We must also continue to acknowledge the efforts of those amongst us who make our society a better one.
This is the season to be thankful for all that we have received, and for all that has made us better. I am thankful for my family, my supporters and for all of the people of the 30th Congressional District who believed in me, and who voted to return me to the House of Representatives.
I want all of you to know that I will continue to serve you and your interests to the best of my ability. I will continue to pursue those issues and policies that are important to you, and that will improve your lives, and the lives of those who are close to you.
It is my hope that the New Year will bring lasting peace in the lives of people throughout our nation’s communities and throughout our world. We must begin to recognize and enjoy the simple blessings that life brings, and the joy that comes with serving others.
Now is a time to renew relationships that have not been as good as they might have been. It also a time to let others know that we appreciate them, and the contributions that they make. It is a time and season for goodness and joy.
So, as we consider the close of 2014 and the coming of another year, let us promise ourselves and others that 2015 will be better than the year that has just passed. Let us wish everyone a blessed Christmas and a Happy New Year!
